About Paediatric Physiotherapy

Paediatric physiotherapy is a science committed to optimising children's movement through gaining the best muscle and joint function available in the growing skeleton.

In the growing child, bone growth can consistently outperform muscle growth and problems may arise that require an understanding of these and other such growth factors.

Unlike adults who have finished growing, children may have specific needs related to growth or other developmental issues which require a more specialised approach that a physiotherapist working in paediatrics is able to offer.

Paediatric physiotherapy can assist with your baby, child or adolescent's:

  • general development, movement acquisition and posture
  • physical skills such as balance or coordination
  • rehabilitation following surgery or injury
  • sports preparation and physical fitness

If you would like some ideas for home or other settings, an appointment in either our child-friendly rooms or your child's own environment may be arranged.

All assessments, treatments and programs are individually tailored to meet both your family and child's needs.
